Isn't Slow Dancing in a Burning Room great imagery. Mayer is one of the few musicians who I will always pay attention to their lyrics. Someone should give this guy a medal for bringing integrity and musicianship back into pop music. Paris Hilton too(just kidding)This Message Edited On 09.26.06

Very good album, I think I prefer Heavier Things though overall at the moment. Definetly the best album of 2006 so far for me I think.

I always found Heavier Things to be a bit bland... like, he was trying to do 'new' things, but ended up being too transparent and superficial. It's good though.

I dunno I thought Heavier Things was probably his best album but I like all his stuff really. Mayer is one of a handful of artists today (Incubus and The Shins included) whos albums I dont hesitate to buy- most artists release a couple of albums and cant keep it up, Mayer in many ways just gets better though I hope he doesnt completely turn his back on the Room For Squares pop stuff cause that was alot of funThis Message Edited On 11.23.06

Great guitarist...but I haven't liked any of his more popular songs...

Thats probably because he's able to go from really good rock/blues with great guitar work to really bad pop, featuring some of the worse lyrics ive seen.

Yes...them blues guys have some great lyrics...

So after initially writing this off, it has become one of my most recent favorites. Gravity and Slow Dancing in a Burning Room are two of the best songs from last year bar none.

Great album.

John mayer has a lot of "hit or miss" songs with me, on his previous album. Fortunately this album has less misses.

He's really on the right track here, his best album.

Great review, and I love the blues-inspired songs.

Also had a very similar feeling when hearing "The heart of life."

Excellent review. Used to be a fan of Mayer but I was in a much different place and don't know if I'm ready for something like this now. But I will consider it now thanks to this review. This Message Edited On 05.23.07

I like 3 songs on this album. I hate all the rest, I can't stand them. I don't know why, I usually like John Mayer. Hopefully, it will grow on me.

Downloaded this thanks to your review. I'd always envisioned Mayer as outstandingly boring (i.e. An album full of songs with the excitement factor of 'In Repair' and 'I'm Gonna Find Another You'). This Message Edited On 12.23.07
