Indeed. That song is my ringtone, so I hear it multiple times a day. It's great.

What I've noticed is that people seem to like whatever Mastodon album they were first introduced to the band with... so for me it's this album, for my friends it's Leviathan or even Remission for the real metalheads...

well leviathan was my first mastodon album, and although some of my favourite tracks are on that, this one's my overall favourite.

Quite a good album, they've expanded their sound and influences a LOT here. Songs like Sleeping Giant and This Mortal Soil show how eclectic their style is and how much class they can have. I just somehow feel that with this album, Mastodon held themselves back in a way, to make their sound easier to "get into". I really hope this isn't the harbinger of a completely commercialised and mainstream approach to music for them.

i have listened to it like twice all the way through, its decent, 3 for me. There is only one song that i need to listen to all the time and grabs my attention, Bladecatcher

Haven't experienced this yet, though I mean to... I just can't seem to bring myself to go out and get it, nor remember to get when I am in the right store.

This album lost its power for me.

Well, you probably beat it into the ground, right? Everything good is going to lose potency with constant exposure. Thankfully, I can't even remember the last record that I played out. I just keep them all on steady rotation so that never happens. I did burn out the catalogs of Zeppelin, Metallica, Sabbath and Soundgarden when I was a kid though.

Maybe I need more time to get into this, because it really doesn't flow with me at all. I loved Leviathan way more.

Right now this is about a 2.5.
