This is brilliant, definitely a 5... They were way ahead of their time, and Ian Curtis was a genius... Along with the rest of the band. Top-Notch stuff.

3? this must be a mistake. unknown pleasures is one of the most influential new wave albums. this has to be at least a 4.5

Very, very good post punk.
I totally dig Abrechts guitar playing.
I love Disorder, New Dawn Fades and I remember Nothing
Great stuff.

The music itself is worth about a 3.5 and is overrated as hell.
Yet I feel like I should rate it higher just because of its HUGE influence.
|
| |
NO this is 5/5 without the influence. You just have let it seep into you. This is the best post-punk album and should be top 20 on anyone's best of list.
|
| |
I'll give it a few listens before I rate it for sure. I love the atmosphere but nothing really strikes me.
|
| |
to be honest I would have given it a 5 cause you have to a year ago but it would have been like a 3. But it creeps up on you and then totally absorbs you. I would suggest listening to closer first (or even the smiths) cause I liked those way more way faster.

Reason it's a 5 for me... These guys were pioneers, almost every single band I listen to is heavily influenced by Joy Division, which means that without Joy Division, my favorite bands may not be in existence.

I've listened to Meat Is Murder by The Smiths but I need to get more of them too. Fuck it, downloading now.

still the definitive post-punk album, despite much stiff competition
|

Can't say I've listened to this whole album, but "Transmission" and "Disorder" alone should guarantee it a 3.5. Some of these reviewers are on drugs, and that's probably not an exaggeration.

so this is essential, eh

How can you give this album just 3 when it features tracks like Shadowplay, Disorder, She's lost control is beyond me. You slag off Ian Curtis' singing and then say his voice suits Joy Division music. Poor review, with yet another Interpol reference.
