Why do I love this album so much? I shouldn't because it goes against every facet of my being. And still...it's glorious. Not one song id skip, short album so i play it through. Am I a bad person? This Message Edited On 03.23.08

If Sonny was a better vocalist I'd probably dig it. But hey ho.

Without a doubt...TrojanWhore you are just plain sily. I love Sonny's quirky yet pasiionate voice, it is the good.

Personally, I find his voice less than desirable on most of this disc. Makes me cringe in places.

great reviw d00d. it's an excellent album to listen to for all those post-hardcore/pop-punk band lovers.

Rating this a 2 may be a touch harsh because there are 3-4 fairly good songs on this album. However, there are also quite a few horrible ones which just turn me off completely… And they mainly do that due to the often cringe-worthy voice of teenager Sonny Moore. It’s not only his voice, but the over-dramatics of it all are off-putting on too many occasions.

While the album did grow on me a little, it ultimately fails since it was not immediately accessible, nor does it demand me coming back to it. The main reason for this is a lack of melody, which even the debut EP was able to include relatively consistently. My highlight track would actually be ‘Featuring Some Of Your Favorite Words’, followed by ‘Note To Self’, ‘Populace In Two’ and ‘Ride The Wings Of Pestilence’.

I think this album is pretty good, Sonny Moore's vocals are grating on some songs but I'd say for the most part they are ok. As already mentioned the rest of the band is more than adequate on their instruments and don't play music which is 'safe' to them. 'Ride The Wings of Pestilence' is a class tune.

Gotta say that I like the whining voice of Sonny Moore and 'Emily' is a proof of the originality of his singing voice in comparison with most of the samey post hardcore bands. I would say that the songs are all different and I love them all. This album is a masterpiece, the quickly spoken verses show that they're not just another part of the song but the most important.

As already mentioned, 'note to self' and 'ride the wings..' are the only tracks worth listening to, but they are fun and catchy and i do enjoy them.

the one-armed boxer vs. the flying guillotine and ride the wings of pestilence are awesome and kiss me i'm contagious is pretty cool. This could have been a 3 but this album has WAY too much filler. A pointless intro, a random electronic-ish track, a bad acoustic song, an acoustic interlude, and a half-serious bonus track all on one record...leaves a grand total of 7 actual songs on what is supposed to be a full-length album.

Derek Bloom is a pretty awesome drummer though.
