I couldn't agree more with this review. And I'd go even further to say melodies and instrumentation sound so generic for the mostpart.
And his voice? I don't find it very emotional at all, he's actually quite bad at singing.
The lyrics can't save this album from being better than a 2.5 for me.

I actually do an excellent Jeff Magnum impression to the amusement of my friends and colleagues.
I'm a sucker for raw Indie with great lyrics, what can I say? Sure, the album is simple and flawed, but it finds a rather strange beauty in its simplicity, and its flaws are what make it so interesting and endearing.

You go through the tracks methodically, stripping the album down into facile, mechanical decriptions of sound. You give no consideration of either the songs or the album as an artistic whole, rendering your review, I'm afraid, worthless.
