This band is super underrated. Maybe it's just where I live, but no one knows them around here.

France certantly has some amazing bands, i checked them out of curiosity for the artworks and didn't expected to be this good, truly underrated

Underrated is a vastly overused term these days, but I agree it fits here.

Afaik, they've done exactly one US tour in 2019 with Cryptopsy, Aborted and Hideous Divinity. Other than that, it was mostly gigs in Western Europe, predominantly in France and Germany, which are also the countries where they seem to be most popular. Might have to do with that.

Might hit, might miss, but noticed you liked Archaic Abbatoir and it's somewhat in line with that.

I found them on some pirate blog more than a decade ago. I don't really pirate anything anymore and any band I liked I'd try and buy something from them or go to a show. But I found an unbelievable amount of great artists through those sites back in the day.

Icon and Asylum are excellent but my favorite so far is Carnivore Sublime which might be a hot take around here

I'm fairly certain most metal bands, and dm bands in particular, didn't mind piracy even in the pre-Spotify era. The shows have always been what keeps them going.

I'm pretty positive it helped them significantly. If you liked it then you're probably gonna spread the word and maybe buy something from them or go see them. If you don't like it then you weren't gonna buy it anyway, but you're still spreading it.

I like it more than their first three. They have yet to release a bad album imo.

I see someone's already suggested Icon, however I'll throw my hat in the ring and suggest Identisick as well. On that note, I like these guys and even I thought Asylum Cave was fairly meh, some good stuff here and there but everything else I didn't really gel with.

"I'm pretty positive it helped them significantly."

It sure did. I remember when bands uploaded their stuff to mp3.com. Being featured on that site's frontpage guaranteed them tens of thousands of (free) downloads. Discovered some great stuff that way myself. And even after Napster had made that site obsolete, artists found ways to get the word spread by "leaking" their latest releases on sites like totaldeathcore, getmetal or darkport. They were always more forward-thinking than the label suits in that regard. Well, unless their name was Lars Ulrich, that is.
