Because the core of this album is inoffensive "progressive" metal that emphasizes predictable songwriting, gauche technicality, and insipid hooks -- "Overly sanitary sounding music" if you will
Checked a couple songs from Reliqa and Avralize btw, their music sounds pretty different to me, if admittedly superior to this. Reliqa has a legit vocalist who sits at the forefront of the music, even if the core bits highlight her in ways that this lets slip by (I also think she is very pretty but that can only affect my opinion by a point or three). The music behind her lacks the wank of this but packs a bigger punch than pretty much anything here but "UVB-76". Can be a little cringe at times, but I think I'm definitely going to check more of their music.
Avralize are kind of hot garbage, but endearingly? The remind me more of a nu metal loathe than this really, their dependence on electronics is a neat touch for the freak out bits and it gives them more of EDM crossover sound than the attempt at jazz Shrezzers are doing here. Definitely not checking more of them tho. (addendum: I got to the bass hits at the start of the final chorus of LOTUS and cackled)
I definitely should have mentioned Nuclear Power Trio at some point in the review. If there is any band doing a sound similar to this at a high level, its probably them
