New Energy and Parallel >>> Rounds and Pause

new energy has four tet's worst opener

Album Rating: 3.5
if you mean the minute and a half of ambience that is the actual opener, that's silly
if you mean Two Thousand And Seventeen, congratulations on the first offensively awful take I think I've ever seen on Four Tet

two thousand and seventeen yeah
I stand by my words

literally a yoga class track

Album Rating: 3.5
the entirety of Pause is as yoga-viable as anything else he's done - literally a feature not a bug?
|

There Is Love in You is my favorite by him but this is probably second or three (hehe) um I think Dialogue is pretty underrated here

it's more subtle on pause or when it isn't, it goes full bop mode
and tunes like parks aren't yoga-viable at all imo

looking to Pause for 'bop mode' is a joke lol
Dialogue is definitely relatively underrated - I don't like the drum prod much, but the nu-jazz cuts go hard, especially at the backend. might bump my rating, is probably a slight notch over Pause

I'd argue that twenty three is boppy

is this a good place to start w this boi??

start with pink!

More like three comes!
Album really really (surprisingly?) rules

Review manages to transform Having No Strong Opinions into an opinion or three that seem rather strong (and proper thoughtful). What a hero!
Guess I'll listen to Rounds for like the 30th time and see if anything sticks this go around

this is a really solid album and i like evrything going on here
i just like housey, clubmodey four tet more, he has such a way with rhythm that almost feels a little wasted on ambience
still gorgeous, still destined to be one of the best of the year, but it isn't pink, new energy or there is love in you level, and the ambience is a little shy quality-wise of morning/evening, which is among the best ambient albums ever made

After 3-4 listens, there’s still no standout track for me that could anchor the album in my memory. Still good tho, but for now I don’t see an indication to why I should choose this particular album of his instead of another one.

Is this a 3.5?
