Watching the uncomfortable amount of white people who put Peggy on a pedestal completely turn on him for collabing with Kanye has been fuckin hilarious

What do you mean, Odal?

Sinternet, and another user beforehand, clearly implied that my criticism of Kanye & US rap placed me in line with Kanye or some republican politician from Maine. The implication is, of course, that there is something suspect in criticising American rap - or, at the very least something boomer or irrelevant.

And that's an insulting category. And stupid, too. I don't need to enjoy shit rap music to not be a US conservative, etc.

You aren’t in line with republicans you just literally have no idea what you’re talking about and therefore sound wildly racist lmao

Wildly racist? We are in a thread about an anti-semitic rapper, who I spoke against. I'm not sure how I can sound racist in this context...

hmm i wonder why someone might not consider rap music to be 'high society' or that it is 'cultural downfall' whatever the fuck that means

lmaooooo yeah peggy working with kanye during his nazi era is like the least surprising ever

these people must've not been around when he was putting real recordings of cops dying on his albums and rapping about pissing on dead rockstar graves. dude is an edgelord to the highest degree

also freddie has had anti-vax and black isrealite bars on his albums for a decade now, also not surprising he would work with kanye

not to mention these guys grew up worshipping kanye so idk what people expected lol. like woody allen had a-list actors in his films for decades and decades after marrying his pre-pubescent step daughter or whatever like idk once you get to that status in a creative field people aren't gonna stop working with you no matter what you do

what botb said lol

tbh "Back to Me" is the best song here for me. Yeah, the BBTBNWJDFFTSYK line is dumb but it's also catchy and hilarious. Freddie's verse is dynamite. It's a very fun song. Peggy's involvement is difficult to understand what he actually did, but I do like those songs too. I get why he would work with Kanye since he was his idol, even if it makes him a hypocrite in some respects

dawg you dismissed rap as a genre for being the downfall of western culture, I get not understanding American political rhetoric but that's how racists talk about rap music here

Kanye’s not even an actual nazi, he just has a long and storied history of saying the wildest shit he can think of when he’s unmedicated to stir people up, he’s been doing it literally for like… 15 years. Calling everyone a nazi is a stupid and problematic because it takes away the weight of the existence of actual real Nazis who are politically and socially still active today

Uh, because rap is essentially an american attitude to life, which I don't find impressive in any regard? Hyper capitalism, misogyny, etc? Kanye, 21 & Drake is literally american incel music, I don't think that's racist to say. Pretty sure that's what white american right wing people listen to...

I agree on Ye's political affiliations botb, but he does pal around with actual nazis who are socially and politically active today and he is the biggest person promulgating their rhetoric. That's not meaningless

Botb: Ah, yes, I'm sorry I listened to Mac miller when I was younger. Hope that's not a felony. Meanwhile, you can be an anti-semite apologist not to be racist. I could care less for your sophisticated taste, lmao

Oh yeah man I didn’t say he’s not a narcissist and a problematic person, I just said he’s not a nazi and throwing around that word minimizes actual nazism that’s at work in political systems today.

completely and ignorantly ignores the existence of rap outside the mainstream, or outside north america. incel? that term is becoming more and more useless by the day when people use it to describe artists who constantly bring up their own sexual escapades. just accept you have zero idea what you're talking about and move on lol. you don't have to like any specific kind of music, but (intentionally or not) bringing up racist talking points against black art is not the way to engage in conversation.

I’ll even be nice and break it down for you so you don’t sound so wildly out of touch saying this shit.

Kanye is one of the most influential music production figures still active today, his influence can be traced through many genres. Obviously that doesn’t make him not an insufferable douche but the only reason he says a majority of the shit he does is because he’s an edgelord. The right has embraced him specifically because it falls in line with their anti-cancel culture rhetoric and so they tokenize him a say “look black people agree with us too!!!” That and he’s rich so he’s a possible donor to people if they’re nice to him and tell him what he wants to hear.

21 savage has done a shitload of work for his area and has donated a fuckload of money to underprivileged communities. He started off just kinda riding the whole mumble rap shit but he’s really turned into someone whos using his power for good. If you think white republicans are listening to 21s music you are fucking stupid

Drake is a CANADIAN more or less child star that gets tons of people to write his music for him under the guise of formulaic pop music. I know more women that listen to Drake than anyone else and if you think American women are in the forefront leading the incel charge worldwide I’m not even sure what to say to you

yeah kanye himself may not be a nazi but he is single biggest thing perpetuating that ideology right now. dude is one of the most famous people on earth just casually hanging out with these people, giving them a current-day platform they would never ever come close to otherwise, making them feel "seen" etc.
