there's not like a massive gap between them but TA has a pretty solid first half then falls off a fucking cliff, but regains a lot of ground with Fine (maybe my favourite song from them). MSIT is horribly produced, paced at a snail's pace, and has like 3 keepers max for me: Only Love, Young Lovers, I Pessimist. also the last clincher is it having Kiss You to Death, by far their worst song oat

think this addiction coulda been smth really strong if matt took like half of his babylon songs and used them for this project alongside the lead poisoning through american scream run + all the dan stuff

I thought is this thing cursed was 'good', but having a 3.8 average feels silly for somewhat-washed up punk. That is right there with their 98' - 03' material. I am not even an Alkaline Trio fan, but I find it hard to believe their fans would agree it is on that level.

cursed is def one of their strongest records for me. hooks galore with the most energy they had since good mourning + the most dan ever, and i think it holds up better than some of that run (infirmary esp)
ngl this record is a big enough step forward tho that it's made me reach for cursed a lot less and made some of its holes more obvious, but it was definitely the album they needed to drop at that time, and i'm not sure we would have gotten here without it

I've gone through their whole discog over the past few months, and this was their most immediately enjoyable album for me. Cursed grew on me, but there are still a few skips on it. This one is remarkably consistent, and the five track run from Bad Time through the t/t is just brilliant. Break and Shake With Me are career highlights. I can't believe how good this thing is, challenges Infirmary as my favorite of theirs.
