They're literally co-written/ arranged by members of TOP so the fact that they sound cheap or fake is laughable at best.

They sure don't gel with the song at all, more of a hood ornament than something that really improves it or makes it memorable.

"I don't think that's what they do at all. From what the band has said about the process, they pick specific vocalists for each piece, have melody and lyrics in mind, and then allow the artist some creative input. The only song where that isn't the case is "Patterns of Rebirth" which wasn't even slated to make the album originally."

Well if that's the case, that creative input certainly didn't work...

Opening minute of What if We're Wrong? made me think I had put on AF3 by accident.

there are some absolutely stunning moments on this but there's also some utterly baffling ones and overall it isn't compelling from start to finish. first two tracks are the best stretch of music on here.

Idk their debut is quite unforgettable for me 😁 I wouldn’t even call this one forgettable either. There’s quite a lot to discuss.

First spin I thought this was too much cheese for my taste. But the more I eat this gruyer the more I like it. I've ended up thinking the almost absolute lack of cohesion makes for a very interesting experience. Sometimes it feels like they unintentionally created a bombastic, eclectic piece of prog music that makes sense as soundtrack of the genre. The lesser evil makes me imagine snarky puppy and avantasia jamming together. I still feel they could have made a better use of Gennady Tkachenko, dude's a monster.

It's definitely too much in every sense of musical forms, but at the same time it's so elegant and classy I can't deny I love it. I guess this will count as a guilty pleasure...

First spin I thought the middle faltered but the more I dig into it the more I dig some of the "weirder" tracks. "Patterns of Rebirth" and "The Lesser Evils" in particular get better the more you check em.

This is a huge grower indeed. Some tracks here are state of the art emotional prog stuff. Upping my score rn.

It's probably the best 'mainstream', accesible prog metal album I've heard so far. These guys have achieved something that's very difficult, creating an album that can appeal to the mainstream audience without alienating most of your metal fans. I can imagine the avg radio pop fan liking this at some point.

PS: The Lesser Evil is actually a genius track, no cap. Probably Top 3 track in here. The amount of dynamics and jazzy emotional twists inside this album are incredible tbh
