lol I literally remember Joe posting for the first time in forever on their socials in 2019 "tune into this radio broadcast to find out what's next" and so I did because I was extremely stoked that one of my favorite bands would have some news
Only for them to start the segment by saying CEG is dead lol but then he announced Empty Country and premiered "Ultrasound"
There was a lot of emotional whiplash in the span of those few minutes lmao

that being said this is usually very good

I've been hyped as hell for this. Excellent review; I can tell I'll probably feel the same way considering my deep love for the debut.

50% of his voice is the Mars Volta/At the Drive-In singer…never been sure what the other 50% is
Something a lot more indie

I do really like the androgynous vox

His voice is the most challenging part of his music for me, imo he’s not always great at composing for his voice (particularly when he goes for the higher range), his vocal melodies are sometimes awkward, and I feel like the vocals are often mixed in a way that makes it difficult to make out the words. Usually I get over these issues more with repeat listens but they can make early impressions more difficult.

yeah the vox don't do it for me at all

this one's a lot more musically winding and amorphous than the debut and it's gonna take me some time to adapt to its less melodic inclinations but a few tracks already established themselves as greats: really love "Dustine," "Lamb," and "Cool S" right off the bat. only one listen in so far but I've re-read Basilisk twice and I'm loving the world Joe's concocted for this project. expecting the music itself to grow as everything gets a little more familiar
