Album is great and I would rate it a bit higher if they swapped out Ritual and Entertain Me for something else as they are pretty mid. Wireless is probably one of the best WT songs in a long while.

damn, can't be assed to check this out right now, but they've sure made a catchy song or two throughout their career

Truuuuuueeeeeeeeee~~~!

I really didn't like this. Last three records haven't been my thing, they even go for those sometimes dubsteppy sometimes radio-friendly electronic vibes, and now even that so called genre with a horrible name that is supposedly an onomatopoeia and starts with a d... Eeeek.

Maybe next time.

Hydra isn't bad, I think, just awfully produced. The thing is so damn loud it hurts.
Other than that I agree with you.

Yeah true, Hydra was still a 3.0, but I don't often revisit 3.0s...

What is your fave WT Dreamflight?

Mother Earth. It was one of the albums that got me into metal and believe it or not, it's still the album I cherish the most, thanks to the impact it had on me back then.

How about you Triff?

Mother Earth has the highest highs of their career, and, like it did for you, was my entry point in metal as well. Its t/t was the first song I 'loved' when growing up and starting to develop an own music taste. It will forever be special to me, love it dearly.

Overall, I'd say my faves in later years are The Heart Of Everything and The Unforgiving. Feel they are at their most diverse, crystallised, and their most WT on those albums. But I like everything before Hydra. Enter has some amazing moments and a perfect atmosphere and The Silent Force was a huuuuuge record for me growing up, although it has been slipping down the ranks in later years (very same-y record, whereas the ones that followed knew better how to dose bombast and quiet, etc.). Still love those two dearly too of course, it's WT, too many memories anyway 🥰💕

Yeahh too many Memories indeed. :D

Intersting, I can identify with a lot of what you've written. The Unforgiving would be a 2nd in my list and THoE is amazing...if you subtract most of the singles. :D

I'd say the main problem with The Silent Force is how "safe" it is. It's just Mother Earth on steroids.

Yeah and minus the pagan (for lack of a better word) influences that made Mother Earth such a nice mystic hippie kind of record.

The videos say it all: Mother Earth deals with raw forces of nature (Ice Queen) and mysterious wood spirits in old school dresses with new age face paint (t/t), whereas The Silent Force is more apocalyptic NYC (Stand My Ground), California (Angels), and Victorian Mansion (Memories) kind of places, more contemporary US or thereabouts.

That's an excellent point, which I never thought about it.
I remember back when Stand my Ground was released,
there were shitloads of comparisons with Evanescence. Now in hindsight they sort of made sense.

Mother Earth also had the influence and help from the Orphanage dudes, which may also justify the pagan thing you've mentioned.

"I can see the appeal but "Well all who wish to die please raise their hands" is probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard so I can't take it seriously."

Yeah it's really cringey, almost ruins the song for me, but not quite

This sucks, why do they have to employ exclusively 9 string 000000000000 riffs, its so fucking boring
