those key changes in Melody Experiment are delicious, starting to adore this thing, so many subtle moments on par with incredible vocal performances

Most 3.5 album of the year probably

That would be the new Slowdive. Vocals and songwriting here are a firm notch above the 3.5 comfort-average zone, although they don't quite deal a knockout across the whole alb

I did recently drop the Slowdive to a 3.5 so you may be right

tbf both this and Slowdive do come right out the gates with perfect opener that trick you into expecting a high 4, but :[

I will be digesting a decent portion of this live next week (I do like this but hopefully it doesn’t entirely dominate proceedings!)

I've heard that their recent setlists are heavily 23/Melody-centred as well as this, but haven't peeked. Would be more than happy with that + ideally My Plants Are Dead

Yes, I think you did say this and I went to buy a ticket, immediately!!!
I would take an entire set of 23/Melody and this (+ a couple of select choices elsewhere).

Not for Me I think is my favorite here
Sit Down for Dinner Part 2 is really great too
Some of the Kazu songs rely too much on non-word vocalizations though, oddly wish she was more lyrical like how she is on 23/Misery

Aww, they are so introverted. Their live performance was full of moments where the crowd were trying to praise them and my word did they look embarrassed by the affection!
Endearing. Good set tho!

Imagine kicking off a gig with these 4 tracks... lots of 23/Melody as anticipated!
Broken this down into 'segments' (through my own 'lens', not sure if this was in any way by design, because there were no real breaks outside of the encore - this is just how I viewed the pacing, or whatever)
'Falling Man, Dr. Strangeluv, Doll Is Mine, Elephant Woman
Snowman, Melody Experiment, SW, Sit Down for Dinner, Pt. 1, Sit Down for Dinner, Pt. 2
Maddening Cloud, Spring and by Summer Fall, 23, Rest of Her Life
Encore: Here Sometimes, Not for Me, Kiss Her Kiss Her'

Great setlist! Spring and by Summer Fall must have been awesome.

Think tonight's show was marginally peppier lol - Kazu made a long thank you speech that was fantastically awkward but landed anyhow
23 and Snowman were big highlights for me, latter's vocal harmonies landed unbelievably well. Wasn't prepared for how hard SW or (surprise addition!) Bipolar would go either - some real powerhouse shit from Simone all the way through. Surprisingly danceable for a gig where most of the crowd were still(ish), but yeah great setlist great vibe, one of the better shows I've caught this year

It was lovely and danceable despite my distinct lack of dancing, lol (I definitely conjured up an awkward wiggle at one point I swear!)
I'd tentatively award 23 highlight acclaim too, but it was a consistently great experience so tough call. A-tier gig, would recommend

I'm already regretting my decision not to award this more ballot points
the Rest of Her Life + T/T combo is majestic
