I really really like this album. Have probably ran it front to back 10 times in the past 3 days. Didn't see this one coming.

remember listening to this band a bit before and enjoying them, but this is really something else. really lovely, soaring cleans and appropriately emotional instrumentals throughout, very good balance of the "skramz" vibe with a more metallic edge. a few moments genuinely remind me of Envy (Be My Tomb stands out most immediately) and few other bands capture that feeling for me. will be returning to this one frequently, i think.

You don’t have to be a “sound engineer” to know what your preferences are…

Every time I listen to this band I feel like they're close to hitting the mark but always missing something that elevates bands like MOL and Rolo Tomassi. I can't quite put my finger on what that is but...

I decided I enjoy this quite a bit more than Rolo Tomassi, but Rolo is definitely closest to this band in sound.

"Every time I listen to this band I feel like they're close to hitting the mark but always missing something that elevates bands like MOL and Rolo Tomassi."
Rolo is way, way better at songwriting, and that's not a knock on Svalbard. Their song structures are more varied and they get a lot of mileage out of the clean vocals
