“ ^I loved that 2017 reissue cover”
I do too. I love this cover, but that one’s also gorgeous and would’ve been cool

The remaster sounds really good. But, I kind of agree with this review in that it loses a little bit of that “recovered from a space colony” roughness.

Whatever excuse to jam this again.

^Yessss. I've been listening to this non stop these days and I am getting used to some of the things that bothered me at the beginning. I might bump my rating, but there are a few glaring issues here than still I can't look over.
@MoM They have some beautiful concept art in all of their albums, but Satty takes the cake for me. Plenty of cool designs there.

That somehow reminded me of how back in the day i burned this album onto the og xbox and played a lot of games with this album playing through the tv. Those single player games where you were alone and maybe playing a bad game, this album elevated the experience and made the game better. Probably the best example being perfect dark zero

Great review though I disagree on some points.
This is truly a pleasure to listen to on good headphones. Heavy parts hit the same for me, whereas the wider mix really enhances the softer parts. The drums are hit a lot harder now and the clean vocals are a lot clearer. The second lead guitar in Andromeda is further back in the mix but still there and still sounds wonderful.

This soounds way better, I can get a clear bass now, instead of the muffled one from the original... Also, drums sound way clearer, especially the kick that was kind of buried in a muddy woofer...

I use either my KEF LS50 or Audeze LCD3s for most listening, never had too many issues with the original mix, could hear the bass clearly but this definitely gives it a more rounded soundstaging & space. It's hard to compare which mix I prefer, due to familiarity I'd probably just stick to the original. That said the acoustic segments sound stunning here, the end of Dead in Magazines is well mixed to say the least. At least this should get more of their newer fans to check out this material, and hopefully with any shows they play they'll jam more of this material, especially with Ryan in the band these days.

Ryan isn’t in the band anymore,
kinda made me think they may have lowered a few of his parts here

Sure, but this had very little advertisement and it didn't seem to have much attention initially, but I'm glad it got some traction here. The likes ratio for their fb page was also relatively low, and now there's at least a couple publications for this that have over 1K likes, which is pretty good for them.

This remix album has overtaken the entirety of most popular hopesfall songs on the youtube music app. Andromeda is #1, Waitress #2, Dead In Magazines #3, Decoys Like Curves #4, Dana Walker #5. Bizzarely the original Red Shift is somehow #8.
