Honestly I think I would like this if it had a different singer. Some cool riffs but but the vocals are nails on a chalkboard most of the time.

I will have to check this for sure, good review. Excited about the Purity cover.

"Dr. Otep Shamaya, Esquire", is 100% truly a delusional artist who blocks people on social media when they rightly criticize her terrible work. Clearly on this one she had a label commitment to produce something, but had 0 concrete ideas, so half of the album is poorly produced covers (the way i am and purity being the worst). There are 0 good riffs, the vocals are trash, the mixing sucks. Did she even hire a band this time around? Or was it her with a guitar and a drum machine? Kult 45, although it was a theft of RATM's sound, was at least a complete and cohesive experience. This one is all over the place and filled with terrible ideas.



Otep needs to stop arguing with idiots on Facebook and put more effort into her music. This art doesn't save.

Delusional to make music that she and other people enjoy? I’m very tired of hearing that insult, because it is a careless insult that insults much more than the intended target. This is less against you, I just wanted to say that I don’t like it lol.



The album sounds great on good speakers. There is a lack of riffs, I’ll give you that. I know she got a proper band together for this one, and her first guitar solo is in this album haha. I haven’t seen Otep arguing with people, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she deletes comments that are critical of her work. Lots of artists do that though, it cleans up the chat and makes things look more positive. A cheap tactic? Sure, but the option is there, and really, who’s gonna keep a bunch of insulting comments around when they’re trying to promote their music? Idk



As far as people hating her vocals, I get it but I don’t get it. It’s true her vocal style is similar to the messy style of early Korn, Mudvayne, etc. I thought people liked that though LOL. How is this much different? My guess is it’s cause of the rapping, mixed with the grumbly mumbles she does when trys to sound like Lord of the Rings monsters lol. She actually is a voice actor that has done voices for Lord of the Rings Monsters LOL. It’s definitely very unorthodox compared to other modern vocalists

People that criticize Otep’s music SO OFTEN mention her political drive/opinions, or something about her defiant character that I can’t help but take those opinions from people with a grain of salt. I’ve only ever seen Otep stand for love, and non-discrimination against others, and it’s quite ironic how much hate she gets for that. Yes, she does it in a so-called “cringey” aging lady, gangsta nu-metal way, but you know what? Why not? This is what she loves to do and been her character since day one. She’s literally just making music, but gets SO MUCH hate for it it’s baffling. I mean, just read the YouTube comments for the last album LOL. The problem isn’t Otep…..

Plus her voice sounds nothing like Korn or Mudvayne her vocals are way more annoying, and no not everyone likes those types of singing styles either by the way.
