Am I crazy for not knowing post-rock is apparently dead?

I haven't listened to this yet but I always like All Of A Sudden and Take Care. Still listen to those when I feel the need to scratch a post-rock itch.

Fuck off all of you with your shitty revisionist history. Robert Smith liked them enough to have them open for The Cure in Ireland in 2012 and I've never seen a better show, rain pouring down as they screamed at the sky, Robert watching from backstage, guitars belting out their songs. The new album is beautiful and you all suck for pretending they've never been capable of gorgeous perfection. Fuck you all.

Post Rock is dead according to the local sputnikmusic authorities.

Just listen to it even if it’s dead or not dead who gives a shit, it’s music.

I didn’t realize this came out. First of all, good review. Second of all, good album. It’s funny, because Explosions in the Sky remind me of quite a few things in my own life which are in the past; their music and the phases of my life it accompanied have all become retro. Discovering this record on Valentine’s, and remembering the lost youthful love, the feelings of the search for great beauty, the hopefulness of traveling across continents, of taking risks. I listened to “Moving on” and the lesser “it’s never going to stop” a lot at work today, tired. and prepping for the bar exam that’s in a few days. There’s something uniquely pretty and melancholic about their music — I’m happy for having listened to them a lot and this would be a fair if somewhat underwhelming final record. Perhaps that’s what makes it suitable.
