so cool that fromsoft got these guys to make the soundtrack to Armored Core 6

They did?! So sick

Starting listening to this and I thought that something was wrong with my headphones.
Not sure how I feel about the sound work here, too lofi/vintage for grindcore imho
Music is okay.

No way, this album sounds right, I would go as far as saying this sounds a tad "overproduced".

Clean production does not equal "overproduced". The record sounds extremely tight and clean, but it doesn't feel sterile or artificial to me. Of course, production is always pretty subjective...

It’s a touch cleaner than I usually go but actually works well for how technical this gets in places. Feel like a grittier presentation would have trampled over the detail.

Mix here is sharp as knives, doesn't sound lofi at all to me. I'd say Longhena had the more polished) and imo better) production whereas this maximises grit and clarity in tandem

Funny, I jammed this right before tomb mold and then thought tomb mold sounded bad for a bit lol. Just two different worlds. This prod has Terrifyer vibes.

Longhena > Amber Gray > Orphan > Coronet Juniper

Longhena then this and then Amber Gray/Orphan for me, last two are pretty interchangeable tbh but the spots for this and Longhena are solid.

Indeed they rip and those who have seen them live are very fortunate.

I'm with Voivod on production and Hawks on ranking, I've spun this several times and it's pretty forgettable. idk if it's the vocals drowning out everything in the mix or just boring plainful as sin song writing but this isn't what I remember loving about Longhena. album has 1 gear and rides it til the wheels fall off

Dig all this band's albums, but anyone who thinks this has boring songwriting compared to the first two needs to put down the crack pipe. Far more versatile writing across the board here, not quite Longhena level but each track has a distinct presence and the sequencing is bang on point.
Agree that this is missing Chang's lows though

Maybe. I think your review definitely articulates what I'm feeling though. Will say I'm having better luck with the Karaoke versions so maybe it'll grow in on me through the out door

The vox got a wee grating otherwise amazing sauce

yeah, this is a half-decent power metal album ngl
also lol @ the 'karaoke versions' (think they called the instrumentals that on another LP too, hmm... people really don't want the vox here?)

karaoke versions implies you're gonna do your own vox! um do your own vox lfg

Album Rating: 3.0
yeah, but why?
karaoke implies group participation and I don't see it going down all that well in such situations... maybe if you really just want to clear a room?

solo karaoke is very much a thing

news to me (guess I wouldn't have 'called it that' or something - I mean obviously there are people that like singing, sometimes alone)
