There’s a ton of energy on this tbh, it’s far better than I expected in all honesty, heaps of great riffs and I actually dig the mix on this, not sure I understand the production complaints at all, I love how the bass sounds especially.

Are we listening to the same album?
> Band has always been fantastic.
You left a wrong "always" in that sentence.

fun to see the comments here. I think this is one of their strongest albums to date. Admittedly I did not pay much attention anymore after Legion left and the disappointing World Funeral album. And Mortuus I always liked better with Funeral Mist. But...Memento Mori is not only a return to form it is also a statement of a band that reinvented itself after many years of trying to do so. The layering here, the twists, the subtleties, the sound (try listening most black metal recordings on a high quality hifi set and you know), Mortuus' venomous vocals. For me this is in my year list, top 10.

I loved Legion too but Mortuus is just the man. Plague Angel and ROM 5:12 are their best albums and this isn't far off. Def top tier Marduk.
