Pretty much. Im more upset that new genghis tron was ruined by the vocalist now considering apparently he was very capable of not ruining it

I love that album, and even like him on it, but he’s definitely the weakest part.

I honestly really disagree about new Genghis. The vocals are the last thing that’s wrong with that album, instrumentally it’s way less interesting than their other records imo
but people seem to like it a lot so I think it’s just not for me.

Naw I was also pretty lukewarm on it. Even the spacier parts which were plenty were far less engaging than the ones on Board Up the House

And yeah I much preferred their previous vocalist, I didn't hate the new vox by any means but they were missing that unique quality from their old albums

Changing subjects but this means everyone in converge has been on an armed record except Nate now right? Like it was kind of an underwhelming feature but that was definitely Jacob on clone.

“ instrumentally it’s way less interesting than their other records imo”
That’s also true but the vocals are still the worst part

I can’t even properly evaluate the music of
It’s own merits with the vocals in the way

Oof, not sure about this yet. Not surprising for them to continue to push in a more pop direction, but where are the screamers on this? What the fuck is this going to be like live? Are all the pit bros going to start dancing when the disco single comes on? Hope this grows on me...

Won't someone think of the pit bros :[

I’d feel the same way, but I haven’t seen them live in five years because they don’t come to my dogshit ass city. I’m not really concerned about that atm

This feels like flying too close to the sun. Ultrapop without the Ultra. Missing the forest for the trees. All sprinkles, no cake. You get it.

I flew to Detroit to see their Ultrapop show, tickets were $35 and it was an absolute banger. I paid $100 for tickets to their Seattle show next month and idk man, that's a lot of money for disco beats.

my only reaction to that is that I wish I had that kind of disposable income

You can, just start a hardcore band with a small, but loyal following and over the next decade gradually experiment with pop elements. Then when the time comes and you have the attention of pitchfork and QOTSA, turn your back on your small, but loyal followers and go for the big $$$

This is fun. Wish it went a lil more crazy but if this is them selling out they're doing a good job at it. Still sounds like the same band that made Only Love and Ultrapop tbh and that's all I could ask for

100 dollars for their show? Are you having a laugh?! Even the big names in the big concert halls don’t cost that much.
