Yeah that's basically inarguable I think. I tend to exclaim that Tate is the best ever, and then when there's pushback I'll concede that in his prime (all of the 80's through '94) he was untouchable. Dickinson / Halford / Dio lasted far longer.
Also, don't forget that Dio was on Operation Mindcrime II, which was, in fact, truly awful lol.

It's always a fun to read the background of your favorite albums; It seems that Geezer Butler never played his bass parts in the original H&H recordings. It was Craig Gruber who did, and apparently he even wrote some bits and parts of the song himself. Although Iommi claims that when Butler returned, he recorded his part without listening to Gruber's version.
Iommi says he still has the early version of Children of the Sea with Osbourne's vocals on it since Osbourne was involved in the very early stages of the album's production.
Another thing that's really interesting is that fans seem to forget how Ward was the actual drummer and not the usual suspect, Vinny Appice. Ward claims he has no memory of the recordings due to his alcoholism.

If I remember correctly, they reached a legal settlement, which makes me think it truly was Gruber in some of the bass moments

Really? I thought Children of the Sea lyrics were written by Ronnie

It doesn't mean Ronnie didn't make his lines and lyrics from scratch tbh

Yeah the music (even in its primary form) was there, the lyrics were added later on.

Yep, if the band gave him some money to shut up, then that means he was really involved in the project. Doesn't really matter if it was one song or an entire album...
