Haven’t seen many consider it a highlight but I really really like domoto

Yes, Domoto is lovely, it is the untitled song they did at KEXP in 2021. Overall, album rules and vocals are so funny and passionate

Dude has insane range and gives the band so much personality, glad they shaped the sound around his talents on this one

Okay Johnny let's see if uh

Odd how "Cowboy Nudes" is basically just a 70s dad rock-type song with a 2000s dance-punk breakdown randomly thrown in
If the vocals were less screamy, I bet my Dad would like that song

“let’s see if uh” and ending a post there is like classic and not to be remarked upon but for some reason the implied disdain made me laugh so hard in this instance

Currently compiling a track by track take everyone will hate :D

I wonder if you’d like any of them more than the others. I feel like only the ending to “undoer” hits (that shit is truly insane imo), but maybe safest bet. hmm.

this is the wedge that drives ars and robert apart

Album Rating: 2.5
1. "2122" - IDK kinda generic opener, I swear I've heard a million songs like this before, but it ain't bad 3/5
2. "3D Country" - The gospel country rock thing ain't working for me here, feels forced 2/5
3. "Cowboy Nude" - 70s dad rock, but with hints of dance-punk and some screamed vocals, catchy etc 3/5
4. "I See Myself" - oddly Grateful Dead for a punk song, ew, no one should ever feel that way about a song 2/5
5. "Undoer" - So this is the sprawling jam of the album I think. Loose structure, constant rhythm section. Probably the best yet. Wow, that ending is lol. Is this one of those goofy albums you guys always give me a hard time for liking? 3/5
6. "Crusades" - In one ear and out the other 2.5/5
7. "Gravity Blues" - Another clear case of "my dad would like this if he didn't scream so much." This album really puts the "(b)oomer" in zoomer." The cool trickly psych sounds at the end make me feel generous on this one 3/5
8. "Mysterious Love" - I just straight-up hate this one. What a fucking mess, and not in a fun way 1/5
9. "Domoto" - This one really makes you focus on the lyrics...which are kinda vague and bland, maybe a vague commentary about war and patriotism? Eh 2/5
10. "Tomorrow's Crusades" - I'm getting tired of this album's schtick of "here's some 70s country rock but when you get too comfortable we'll add some screams" 2/5
11. "St. Elmo" - Good bassline, I kinda like the broken-sounding melody too. The most focused and least forced this album has to offer. Feel like the styles are actually married well instead of jumping between the two. Still hardly my thing though... 3.5/5

it’s crazy how hard this album eclipses Ween’s entire discography within the first 1 and a half songs

Album Rating: 2.5
First song is one of the least original songs I've heard in a very long time too a point where I think it would've sounded unoriginal in like 1988
Only "Mysterious Love" was terrible though, I see the appeal of this in general though even if it isn't for me... country rock for people who don't like country rock

that feels like a disingenuous take, the vocals and sporadic nature of the instrumental at times are pretty unique

"that feels like a disingenuous take, the vocals and sporadic nature of the instrumental at times are pretty unique"
Don't tell me about sporadic instrumentals, that's literally a hallmark of my taste
And the vocals are not even a little unique, except maybe when he does that really deep goofy cowboy voice occasionally
