Part of me wants to listen to this in full because Sona has played a lot of it in our apartment and it’s a *talked about 2023 release* but another part of me knows it’s 2-3/5 range and that it’d just annoy people if I did
Hmmmmmmm

you should listen to it
in full

Though I will say they sometimes remind me of the Grateful Dead and they sometimes remind me of modern post punk scene stuff
Odd mix, really

We should probably nail down where this fits in that UK schema tho.
I figure it’s /most/ like squid (instrumentation/timbres most like black country?)…is it worth the comparison?

it's its own thing
uniformly and fluidly slapdash

Squid are the ones I give the most credit, so I'd say that works in it's favour lol

also nota bene this whole squad is like 21 years old
The transition out of the crazy drum part of “cowboy nudes” sheesh
|

Squid would be a decent comparison before they started releasing LPs. And don't bother with the UK schema because these guys are from New York.

Oh no yah I agree all told but my experience with Brooklyn a lot of the bands that get popular are like the bands that get popular in the UK. Not unilaterally but the “scenes” are comparable

They got the New York art rock cool (ala old squid), some black midi vocal insanity, and are prone to extended black country jams. Very much its own thing. they just play their instruments and kick ass though. The New York sticks most for my money making them sound kind of like a bipolar strokes
