Barbaric, St Charles Square, Goodbye Albert 4.5
Avalon, The Heights, The Ballad, The Rabbi 4.0
Sticks and Stones, The Everglades, The Swan 3.5
Russian Strings, Far Away Island 3.0

God fuckin damn is the opener gorgeous. Damon's voice is definitely aging (just isn't the same live anymore) but the lows he hits in the Ballad are just lovely.

these three songs don't really leave much of an impression on me! Vampire Survivors

The Rabbi is nice, but I get why they left them off the main tracklist, they all sound a bit different overall.

This barely do anything to me. At the same time, the last thing I heard from them was 13 and that this album was excellent.
This just sound so same-y to me during all album and there are too many ballad/ballad-y songs in here for me to truly appreciate this album.
St Charles Square is by far the best track on this and it is not even close for me
(Just skimmed through the 2 albums before this one and both seems more interesting to me as a whole than this. They are both have more diversified tone than this one)

Think Tank is close to being their best album so that makes sense

13 is betterl

yeah 13 is their best but this and magic whip make up the rest of my top 3. not sure which of those two i prefer yet
think tank used to be my favorite but it is not consistent at all, both tonally and quality wise. got a solid handful of my favorite songs theyve ever made and enough gold in the vaults to craft a top 3 worthy blur album but its not the one they put together

How do you all feel about the Self Titled. It feels like the transition album between the britpop period and their "alternative" period, even though I despise Song 2. . Hell I like it more than this and Parklife (I just have trouble with the Britpop era)
13 is my favorite. Still have to listen to Think Thank and Magic Whip though

s/t is frontloaded to hell but still great. lose a couple of the snoozers for All Your Life (top 5 Blur song, somehow a b-side) and it's on par with 13

Yeah I agree the S/T is a transition album before the magnificence of 13. Kind of took them a couple of albums to unlearn everything they had done for 10 years. I don't really enjoy it that much, but first half is pretty good.

Think Tank is the best (unpopular opinion I'm sure) just listen to Battery in Your Leg and you'll understand why.
In fact listen to the live version, it has more emotion in that than any of these "ballads" - https://youtu.be/uZY4b2ws_1o

Interesting they went with such a mellow approach but I like it. On first listen The Butcher and The Narcissist are my favs. It’s about as good as Magic Whip, nothing as great as the few best songs on there but I’d say more consistent.
S/t has a few of their best songs but otherwise isn’t much better than decent. Their top 3 imo are 13>Think Tank>Parklife

I do enjoy Magic Whip more than Think Tank not by a lot, but still. Im probably in minority.
For me it would be 13, MW, TT, S/T, Parklife (Like I said the britpop era is so meh to me)
In the end, I'm just not that much of a fan of Blur in general, so there is that
Yeah, I did relisten to this. It is still a Blur to me

Really wished The Heights was a longer song with a decent outro. Love the song but god I hate endings like that.

I always found Think Tank a little lacklustre. For me 13 > Parklife > this. Everything else I can leave. Maybe keep the Best Of...
