@LightandGlass: Ocean Ave is definitely their catchiest and most memorable LP, so you're certainly justified in making that your favorite of theirs. Let me know if you decide to check the EP! Would be interested in how you think they compare.
@Sunnyvale: Southern Air is also my favorite. They've had records that were strictly "catchier", but SA is their best. It doesn't hurt that I have a ton of memories with that album, too.
@auberginedreams: Honestly, that's how most people are. They've heard Ocean Avenue and very little else. I think their discog has a ton to offer beyond that album, but then again, not everyone likes this band as much as I do. I'd certainly say that if you have a soft spot for pop-punk that these guys are worth an extended look.

this will likely be a huge shock but the comparison to Paper Walls has me feeling giddy for Friday

Thanks Atari :-)
Don't go in expecting another 'The Takedown', but the pacing and production feels pretty similar to me.

This is really good

Another great read, Sowing! Saw them in Minneapolis last week and they sounded great - don’t miss ‘em if you’ve got a chance!

@Comatorium/Nbehre11: Thank you! Band means a lot to me obviously =)
Curious where people are hearing this though. Other than the midnight stream a month ago, I didn't think this was streaming until tomorrow (maybe a time zone thing). Glad to see people enjoying it so much already!!!
Edit: My CD just came in the mail so maybe that's how ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Sowing is to Yellowcard as what Dave was to Butch Walker.
Fantastic review, was disappointed I couldn’t play this as soon as I was done reading. Tomorrow though!

That's a big compliment, so thank you! Can't wait to hear your thoughts along worth everyone else's. It's such a warm little summer EP.

I missed this band. The EP is awesome! Honest from the jump is my favourite off of first listen. This does have a Paper Walls sound to it now that you mention it. Some of Ryan's solo stuff had the YC goods/writing but glad the actual band is back.

Glad you think it's awesome! A lot of people are getting either Paper Walls or Southern Air vibes from this. Like you, Honest From The Jump was my initial favorite. It might still be, but Hiding In The Light gives it a damn close run for its money.
I loved Ryan's solo stuff, especially the first EP. But yeah, he undoubtedly sounds better surrounded by the band and that lively violin. Just a classic sound that's hard to beat.

Honestly that whole EP is astoundingly good. Like, Elliott Smith vibes good. Virtue and Everything Except Desire were both high quality releases as well, they just weren't all that memorable.

Just got my shirts and CD in the mail and they're awesome. They look even better in person

Also, the lyrical booklet for the CD has an ode to the band's fans made up of old lyrics. I love everything about the layout/color scheme/design of this EP rollout.

@sowing not sure if you are a fan of hawthorne heights but Ryan makes a good appearance on their track Seafoam on their latest album. so much nostalgia for me on that track.
