New Promise sneakily is like one of the hypest Fear Factory songs, that creepy somber intro exploding into that awesome metal section is just pure eargasm.

Yeah would be real sweet if more Fear Factory fans would jam this again with an open mind and without expectations. Meet the art on its own terms ya know. Fear Factory always had an extremely specific sound, I get that. But I think all songs on here work and I appreciate when artists want to write something different, which is what happened here. The production on here also isn't nearly as bad as most make it out to be, its a warmer more raw sound than most other albums of theirs but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Also I don't care what Wolbers said about the production process of this afterwards, frankly. I respect his insight and opinion but it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the album.

The production just sounds so damn thin, which sometimes isn't a problem but for me, with FF's sound production is a BIG fuckin' deal. Much bigger deal than for other metal bands. Some tracks are OK (first track and Moment of Impact fucking crushhhh) but I just know it could sound so much better. It's like listening to And Justice For All, it's great but the whole time I'm thinking "ugh, if only this had bass and was mixed by someone who wasn't totally fucking inept."



Btw I still love Justice, but still.



I will jam this one more time for the Flug, though.
