Mein is a good song but Serj being under-utilised is definitely the right way of saying it. The bit he sings is a cool chill bit but the fact that you have such a talented vocalist come in and do that little monotone section is such a waste, especially after how well Maynard was utilised on Passenger!

you guys only say that about Mein cause you want to sell so bad the SNW thing as top Deftones, which is not. Song is Deftones bottom

Nah man SNW is my favourite Deftones because Cherry Waves, Beware, Xerces and Kimdracula would all make my top 10 Deftones tracks and Hole in The Earth would be close too.
Mein is just a good song, particularly like the tidy drum fill and urgent riffing to kick it off.
Compare it to something like X on this album. It doesn’t do anything you don’t hear on any other tracks better and it’s nobodies favourite track like Chop Suey or something but it doesn’t get skipped either.

S/T is definitely better.
I'd take Mezmerize over this as well.

Mezmerize is my least favorite System album tbh... might as well just call it a Daron solo album, because I feel like there's almost no input from anyone else, which kinda irritates me

Hypnotize is their weakest by some margin for me.

Mein’s music video > the song
jk song rules idc the drums are interesting and the rest of the band are on point. getting hung up on serj’s part is what they wanted.

Mein rules I thought we already settled that once and for all
Also, Mesmerize is def better than Hypnotize. Hypnotize is weakest SOAD

I think the older I've got, the more I've appreciated this. It's one of only a handful of "nu-metal" albums that still holds up

Nu-metal albums hold up at a similar rate as pretty much every other genre from the same time imo

honestly i dont even really consider SOAD's sound to be nu metal so much as inspired by it. their genre's surprisingly hard to define and like the title track would be one of the my favorite metal songs in general

Hey I just heard this track called “chop suey”. It’s kinda cool and edgy. Anyone heard it on here?

I really dont get why people call this album or anything by SOAD “nu metal”. This has literally zero of nu metal’s defining features. None of the rapping, none of the hip-hop or funk influence, none of that Korn-esque riffing, definitely no turntables or scratchy scratchy disks. SOAD was closer to thrash than nu metal.
