STA was obviously B-sides but it still was pretty great. It had more of the kind of folk elements they would add in the next two but wasn't a horrible annoying mess.

S/T rules hard, then toxicity, then STA, then M/H

this is filled with both ok and great songs. its hard to give it anything lower than a 4 though because of the impact its had on my taste as kid but im struggling to justify a 4. i think Mesmerize is their best
|
| |
You just made a comment mentioning a 4 and immediately after you edit it to a 3.5 lol
Also listen to the s/t if you haven't it's their best

i only really liked peephole and sugar off it. right now im going through mesmerize. and yeah lol i couldnt keep the 4. i was too guilty of the infamous biased nostalgia

I'm super emotionally attached to that album but I've always thought it was their best
Just dug how crazy it often sounded personally

Mezmerize is pretty awesome. Hypnotize, on the other hand...

the guitar in sugar is simplistically sexy. and yeah hypnotize is terrible save holy mountains
|
| |
Ain't that bad, just really mixed
Soldier Side is one of their better songs
|
| |
Hypnotized and Steal this album are Soad's nonconsistent/decent albums but others are sweet

they write a lot of songs that seem like obvious filler, then others that bands would sell their souls
to satan to write

Mezmerize is also bad. Radio/Video is a fucking joke, come ooon

Toxicity has by far the best production, and that's not a small factor of why it's their best. Self-titled was kinda fuzzy and the one's after were unbalanced in their mix. Also, songs like ATWA and Forest just never seemed to reappear. They're great songs on their own but they also help to balance the more chaotic and more straightforward songs.

Least you could actually hear Shavo in the s/t
Everything after that he might as well not be there, well aight minus a few exceptions (Deer Dance,
36, etc)

Mesmerize has This Coke, BYOB, Violent Porn, Question!, Lost in Hollywood, etc which are some of their best

Spaceman, all those songs suffer a similar problem: they either have one too few riffs or are a minute too long. I like Mesmerize but its tedious compared to the earlier stuff.
