vituperative anger def came through on my blind playthrough, esp the audible lyrical screeds

This was nice but there wasn't anything that made me feel like I needed to give it a second listen
Great review, though. Got me interested in going through their back catalogue

a few listens in and i'm enjoying it a lot - definitely more than the dead light. winter and carrion skies were basically perfect records so it stands to reason why they're going in a different direction.

Yep, can't unsee the phallus anymore.

That slower section that starts around 3:30 in the first track is my jam

This is pretty good. Fen have been super consistent over the years. A bit better than their last album but not by much. They peaked at Carrion Skies and Winter, don't know that they'll ever be that good again.
Edit: killer bass work, as usual.

@Noctus Dustwalker is their most varied effort by far. Not as tight as this though, I get where people have a problem with that album's relative lack of cohesion but I love it. My number 3 behind Winter and Carrion Skies.
This is probably number 4.

Yup, carrion skies is one of my favourite albums ever and winter is their second best. This is growing better and better, probably gonna bump this higher after some more spins.
Thanks for the link, teamster. Can't help myself smiling when interviewers tend to ask questions that seems to assume the artists are sitting on the big answers. The watcher seems to be a down to earth and decent dude

Winter gets the edge for me (over Carrion). Internment is god-tier. They're both amazing though.
I could see this growing on me.
