The Beggar Lover (Three) is basically a Soundtracks legacy sequel and I love it. I get where your criticism comes from but... you are wrong.

Did Swans really become another band the likes of "oh they got a new one out? Okay, whatever"

"Hiding away on Disc Two like an elephant behind a lamppost is the gargantuan"
I'm using that. Good job, professor Rugallini.

Love this review and its clear love for the band / total irrelevance for their bullshit, will attempt all 2 hrs of Michael Gira's last will and testament um sometime soon

Three tracks in and this can be Michael's Blackstar in case he dies before making another Swans record. It's uncanny at times, but cool so far.

First track was weird. Not bad but not exactly my cup of tea, at least not right off the bat.
Second track was just starting to get good when I got to work and had to turn it off.

I don't know if it's upcoming (again, didn't even finish track 2), but I miss the heavy percussion/beats/rhythm that Swans used to occasionally drop like in Mother of the World.

It's moving quite slow actually. Some heavier moments could have helped. Curious about The Beggar Lover for the Sountracks for the Blind similarities mentioned.

some absolute stud on slsk hosted a fake version of this album with identical track times, but had the first song as a j-idol pop jingle with a two-minute drone pasted at the start. harder jump scare than any real Swans song has ever given me.
listening to the real thing now and oh hi this is definitely michael gira

I'm going to share seiko under the guise of gira from now on in an attempt to spread the one and only true gospel

@Sowing yeah the percussion is really lacking. starting to think Thor Harris was the true mvp of the reunion era. even when his performance was more subdued, it still had a bite to it that gave the music a sense of forward momentum. without him, it mostly just feels listless

I really don't think I'm up to listening to this. Seems interesting from the review but I don't think it'll be up my alley.
