Yeah, this review is just lacking.you bring up all these things that Tom talks about but what is he specifically talking about and what are his narratives actually building up to? Not to mention I think some things are just way too outdated. Mainstream rap is not so superficial anymore, it exists but you can look at the top hip hop artists like Kendrick who offers actual thought provoking topics because he respects his audience and isn't just feeding them a grift. You can be edgy like Eminem in his heyday but he also built upon his stories and had the beats to add upon it. It really just sounds like you like him for his beliefs which is whatever but it doesn't necessarily make good music. On the flip you can see macklemore like I mentioned before, where just because he's catering to inclusiveness doesn't mean people think he's a good rapper because of that.

This is basically just BackWordz without the nu metal anyway and I know people who agree with Eric July but hate the music

i'm guessing this is a troll review but i'll bite as i've got nothing better to do.
1. Dismiss an entire genre within the first sentence, displaying a lack of familiarity with the modern scene ['repetitive beats'?, production&songwritings usually the highlight of modern rap, try listening to some late 90s stuff if you want a bar for 'repetitive.' ]
2. 'Fearlessly addresses' topics that are mainstream conservative fox news[the most watched network] 'issues,' he's about as brave as a gamergater on reddit.
3. "Tom MacDonald takes a refreshing departure from the norm here. His lyrics are full of introspection, empathy, and the purest form of raw honesty. He sheds light on his own life and struggles, showing the importance of focusing on mental health and reflecting on oneself. " once again showcasing a lack of background into modern hip hop, none of this is unique to tom macdonald and i'd go as far to say he's does a pretty poor job at everything.
4. "MacDonald addresses the pitfalls of social media and the pressure to conform to societal expectations" he banks off social media, he wouldn't have an audience to pander to if he was following his own advice.
5. "MacDonald's approach confrontational or polarizing, it is precisely these qualities that make Deathreats a vital addition to today's music landscape" honestly: it's not even the politics that bother me it's just he's generic and corny as fuck. most of my favorite rap albums are 'confrontational and polarizing,' often preaching stuff i vehemently disagree with. this is just somewhere on a scale of laughable and boring.
i'd legit rather sit through a merzbow album. i do hope that finn mckinnley guy does a macdonald video in this vein tho that'd be pretty funny

Most hip hop is about vapid things like money and cars, or it glorifies criminal activity. Death metal is fiction writing.
Oh, and BackWords sucks.

Exactly that’s why most hip hop rules and this sucks dog dook

but yeah i'd much rather be listening to three 6 mafia. and in terms of death metal : lyrics aren't exactly in the forefront, at least for me personally energy/harshness go a long way. trap is the slam/brutal death metal of hiphop, are there any political slam bands? there's plenty of anti-cancel culture/sjw metal bands but they're also much funner&creative than tom macdonald.

"thuggery"? sounds like a racist dog whistle, not all black people are criminals and thugs

In all serious that was a major “tell me you don’t know anything about hip hop without telling me you don’t know anything about hip hop” moment. That comment alone warrants a neg

@fortnite: I didn't mention anything about black people at all, it's really not cool of you to generalize an entire race as thugs.

Not like anyone needed confirmation that you're too dense to apply diegesis to art you don't already like but still wow
