Always good to see a Sowing review, I really enjoy them every time. That album art will haunt my dreams though.
Is this a good album to start with for Ben Folds? Can't say I've ever given him a listen before.

Little Plant is my favorite hands-down though. The middle of that song onwards is Ben Howard in peak form.

I realize that doesn't average out to my 4.5 rating but the presence of so many 4+ quality tracks, and the lack of any songs even approaching "average" or worse, makes this a consistently excellent listen.

Not a great way of deriving a rating imo.
I mean it's better to go with how the whole hits you I feel...but even if you were to do it by average track ratings, different songs are different lengths etc.

Gorgeous album (my rating will probably eventually get bumped up a few points) - I'm on a bit of a Ben Howard kick at the moment, after five years of periodically revisiting Noonday Dream and wondering why it's so hyped, that album is finally growing very hard on me.

I mean, I don't dislike it. Just seems kind of vanilla compared to everything else being offered here. I do enjoy the little melodic keys or whatever going on above the laid back percussion.
