Made to Parade is probably the worst yeah. Just a nothing of a song really. Other than that, everything else is honestly pretty enjoyable.

Spotify just played a song off the new King Gizzard straight after my first listen of this and it was better than everything on this album by a large margin - bit dispiriting that
I find it annoying King Gizzard are actually very good at everything, releasing three albums in multiple genres every year just seems obnoxious somehow

New King Gizzard is Superb

Kind of a big difference between what to expect from a King Gizzard song and a qotsa one though

King Gizz are good at precisely one thing, then they shoehorn a load of extra nonsense into their albums just because. It's kind of their schtick I suppose.

This was definitely a QOTSA album, which just about sums up my initial impression. Complete unwavering neutrality. At least it seems like an upgrade over Villains. There, I said something.

yeah not bad but underwhelming

Opener has those Lullabies vibes.

Lullabies was already bloated, now we get the bonus of an additional disc without anything even remotely comparable to its standouts

Weird that these guys used to be untouchable and now people seem to be rather lukewarm on them.
Also as an Australian, King Gizz suck.

Who on earth thinks Era Vulgaris is worse than Villains?
This feels like EV pt2, which is what Villains wanted to be. Good record.

Also as an Australian Gizz don’t suck, they’re just boring, which is arguably worse.

Consensus seems to be that this is better than Villains. I don't expect it to live up to SftD, Rated R, or LC, but I'm still excited.

I would say this is less experimental than EV but it overall embodies the sound of that era for sure. Slight tinges of of Lullabies + Clockwork as well.
