Hell is just so amazing produced and the tone is just so amazing. They couldnt go wrong on that album and the sparse melody parts are just fucking angelic. It isnt in my top 2 probably for bmth but i understand why someone would love it and be so influenced by it to call it a top 5 all time album.

it really is. plus as much as I wanted to downplay it... that's the album that REALLY got the ball rolling for me musically for years to come.

There Is a Hell really honestly just personifies just about EVERYTHING I could ever ask for in a metal album, and I haven't really heard another album that captures THAT vibe in entirety. It's THE emotional metal album for me. Oli's bordering-on-crying screams. the dark lyrical themes. besides the lack of clean singing apart from Lights, it's the closest I've ever gotten to essentially... "The Chosen Pessimist" by In Flames extended to a full album length vibe-wise.

Every time Lights sings at the end of Crucify Me, I keep hearing her say "I am Yoshi"

lol i can hear it but i prefer to hear it as it is. to focus on misheard lyrics would diminish the impact it had on me

I can't help it. It's something that happens often with metalcore, especially the unclean vocals

Lol ten years ago this user would have fit in like a glove, this reads like about 50% of Sputnik user back then except you were missing a homophobic slur somewhere

Anyway, I don’t like this album but not because it’s not ‘true metal’ or whatever because BMTH have never even tried to be ‘true metal’

There is a Hell was also definitely their peak, production was amazing on that album, sounded huge
