“I listened to this album because Fantano said it was dogshit, and usually I find that when he says something's dogshit it's a little less bad than he makes it seem, so I wanted to see if that was still true. and it was . . . much worse than the music itself was the idea behind it all and its reception . . . There's nothing inherently wrong with being a pseudo-intellectual, but where I got scared was seeing the comments section of the youtube videos for the tracks. Fans seem to think this album reflects their life and teaches them things. I saw a comments that said that A7x is guiding them through the stages of life. I truly hope that anyone who thinks there are genuine insights on this album can get better guidance, because this is at bottom a bad album written by a bunch of outgrown scenesters on psychadelics. They ripped off Daft Punk. No one should look to a dramatic metal band that rips off Daft Punk for any kind of guidance at all”

the only gripe i have with this is it's an absolute nightmare to keep my scrobbles all in one place. someone at last.fm thought it was a good idea to upload the album with both the uppercase "A" and the lowercase "a" in the album title. i paid for pro (still worth it tbh cuz i got to change my name finally and merge some other albums) and the scrobble editor doesnt allow you to change casing. so the album shows up twice.

@Gonzo: Idk, I still vastly prefer The Stage to this. The Stage had its experimental moments as well, but they were reigned in with more focused songwriting; on the other hand, I think Life Is but a Dream has a lot of cool moments, but they're stitched together too haphazardly imo. I originally had this at a 4, but I'm starting to hear more of the cracks and inconsistencies in the songwriting
