After three spins, still a long way from a "final" opinion on this one. Feels like their most consistent effort, but the high points are somewhat lacking thus far compared to The Golden Days Are Hard. Right now, Ozzy's Palace and Polar Bears are the standouts for me.

First track was dire, but I think the rest of the album managed to perform a salvage job. Might be needing to check again though.

Finally some love for Ozzy's Palace! (still my least favorite personally, I'm just happy it's no longer unanimously dumped on).
My high points are Pear Tree and Annex Clinic & Pharmacy, which for me match their very best moments from their other albums. Song ranking incoming:
1. Pear Tree (5.0)
2. Annex Clinic & Pharmacy (5.0)
3. Polar Bears (4.5)
4. Fixed Up By Orange Light (4.0)
5. Ribcage (4.0)
6. I Can Hear The Highway (3.5)
7. Fossilhead (3.5)
8. Ozzy's Palace (3.0)

There's some good,
there's some evil,
but there's mostly empty space

Quality bump
My favorite line from the whole album is the "what do you expect a ferry" part. Such well executed religious cynicism.

Damn if they had only played that opener at a sensible pace they could have saved me like 5 or 6 minutes

Haha. Yeah, I respect what they were going for, but it's a bit dragged out for my taste too.
