If survivors of sexual abuse are getting something out of it I will concede this one to them.

"So the song is anti-abuse, but I still hate the lyrics. They could’ve/should’ve written better lyrics."

"Can’t tell if they are being extremely questionably charitable or if I am being very reasonably uncharitable"

the lyrics are translated + the song in question is not on this album. lyrics for this album are easily available online. not sure what is meant by 'better lyrics' here. fwiw i was initially the same boat as pots, and as per the tone in the rev, i don't usually take vocaloid artists particularly seriously in any context, but imo the most horrifying (and i would imagine resonant with many survivors) aspect of the song isn't so much the content but the degree of internalised shame caught in the deferential register, which is largely lost outside of japanese (which is one of *the* languages for codified deference). putting imagery that graphic into the voice of a robot would (and has) land as gimmicky in a load of other contexts, but the piece's tenor is convincing enough that that imo the emphasis carries

"I’m not really sure what culture of “romanticizing sexual abuse in media” they are referring to tho"

i would identify that culture in '''arthouse''' nocturnal animals/last night in soho bullshit cinema but am equally unsure of what specifically those comments are referring to

What makes the song truly horrifying to me isn’t the graphic gross-out lyrics. Those are disgusting, sure, but they’re just that: gross and nothing more. It’s the internalized shame and warped worldview of the song’s narrator that drives the point home. The chorus is literally the narrator apologizing when she’s done nothing wrong. She’s broken, and it’s terrifying.

That being said, Kikuo’s turned that awful factor down a lot on this album. None of the songs present even scratch the surface of Gomenne Gomenne’s disturbing level.

Well yeah, I agree the deference is the aspect of those lyrics that is disturbing on a ~too real~ level.

The content of the lyrics themselves is what’s disturbing on more of a “human centipede” “what the fuck is wrong with you for thinking this up you psychopath” kind of way

But the latter, for me, makes me question the intent of the former if that makes sense

But as you can see I had a whole rollercoaster ride itt within a short period of time and have deferred to the feelings of the victims who are talking about that song at length

Honestly entirely fair. For what it's worth, this and Kimi wa Dekinai Ko are about the darkest and most depressing/gross Kikuo gets in terms of lyrical content. Everything else is still plenty dark, but it's not outright revolting or terrifying

Vocals on the first few tracks didn't sound like Miku, so I did some researching. Apparently Kikuo used a second Vocaloid for half the tracks on this album. Which explains my initial confusion

oh damn lol so Kikuo Miku 7 is a FAKE title? madness

"But the latter, for me, makes me question the intent of the former if that makes sense"

yeah that makes a lot of sense. will maybe read up on it further (or maybe not bc q frankly i don't want to think about that shit atm lol), but i get the sense the life the song's gone on to have probably transcends the original intent at this point - that along with the rest of kikuo's trajectory apparently not going 200% on the grotesque freakwagon is enough a shrug of "okay you did that" for now

He lied to us smh, can't believe it. Honestly, with how overused Miku is in the scene, it's actually kinda refreshing
