Not really, this doesn't sound like unexpect. Not enough tonal musicality

I do enjoy this album and this band, but Unexpect clears this easily

This clearly has Augury-like chops & noodles, add the combination of male grunts / female vox plus violins and you have Augury again + a hint of Unexpect. So yeah Quebec prog death worship.

@Ghandhi check Augury's Concealed for an over the top combo of tech death and female operatic vox, and their 2nd album Fragmentary Evidence for great noodling prog death with less to no fem vox. No violins tho, that's where Unexpect comes in but then again those guys are beyond prog tech extravaganza.

Unexpect are one of the best bands to ever be a band

Truly, a dude with dreads named Chaoth playing a 9 string bass should never be cool or enjoyable, but goddamn if he's not one of the best to ever do it and if he doesn't justify owning those 9 strings. That last Unexpect record got a ton of playtime out of me.

But i agree that this isn't particularly comparable to Unexpect, nor do I think Unexpect clears this easily.

I love most of their music and can take it with a grain of slat because I'm a loser who likes lame shit, but there are some serious ~we are so quirky random cheese monkey~ vibes in a lot of Unexpect's music. Honestly the two bands just have a very different approach to writing and while I can appreciate both I could see Unexpect being a little too neckbeardy-prog-nerd leaning for some.

Really? I feel like the entire creative ethos of Unexpect is either too esoteric to be considered pretentious or so silly that they are actively poking fun at bands that attempt to create a similar sound. They don't ooze neckbeard energy whatsoever.

That being said (and has been said multiple times), the two bands really aren't too comparable beyond the surface level.

Y'all BETTER COME BUMP THE FABLES THREAD WITH ME!
