That would be why "Classic" isn't really the best description for a 5/5 rating.

But that bastard two has had it coming for a while.

Classic shouldn't be a rating, but it's no big deal to me.

These guys need to grow up...there album and song titles, are something a bunch of 12 year olds would be making up cause they sound so coolz! I laughed out loud when I read the album title "God Hates Us All" I like Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Iron Maiden, but I could never get into Slayer because of what they try to pass as vocals.

Also...it was quite the unnecesarrily long review.

1. I can make the review as long as I want. I covered every aspect of this album through my eyes.

2. It's funny you talk about "what they try to pass as vocals" cause Phil sucks as a vocalist with Pantera, Dave is a whiny little girl with Megadeth, and James is decent with Metallica. Only good...er, amazing vocalist out of those bands is Bruce. And everyone knows he owns.

3. Ok, cool. I'm glad you got a laugh out of Slayer. They don't 'act like 12 yr olds', nor do they write like it. It's just people like you will turn up their noses at the stuff they write, which they write to be the complete opposite of how a normal people would think. There's our world, and then the world that Slayer attempts to creates through their music in an effort to prove that theres another way of thought. I may hate other bands, but I don't go around making them out to be a joke.

And Shadows has the sweetest avatar EVER.

Really people, keep the pointless flaming to a minmum. Negative talk is fine, but a barrage of idiotic comments by people who hate the band regardless of the album is unnecessary.

Thanks SoH, I thought I might sport a Slayer avatar since I've been binging on them lately.

I couldn't help but laugh at this. Please, brother, please. Their music may connect with you in a deep and profound way, and I'm all for that, I think that's great, but dont' take it any further than that.

As for the review, no non-Slayer fan could possibly get through the whole thing. Good job, though. This Message Edited On 08.10.06

I didn't really mean it to sound all deep and profound. That's what Kerry and Tom have stated: They want Slayer to be like another way to view things. No way in Hell are they deep in any way. They just want to be like "...oh hey, well, everyone thinks this way...lets write someone thats the complete opposite and stir stuff up!". Thats pretty much what Kerry has stated.

So, I apologize if I came off trying to defend them as being all intellectual and what not...

I don't like Slayer, I think the album art is better than the music.

No, the verses are really poor actually. They're ill-concieved, totally incohesive, and Tom sings really poorly. The chorus is alright sort of.

Holy sh!t people, Slayer aren't the Backdoor Boys. They don't need to sing well or

write poppy lyrics/melodies to be good, and they've pretty much ALWAYS been

about attitude and intensity. And if you're looking for profound meaning out of

their lyrics you're overthinking. Slayer is all about the brutality folks. Most metal

lyrics tend to suck anyways if you haven't noticed. You want good lyrics? Read

some f*cking poetry. I don't really expect "great" lyrics out of any rock bands.

They also pretty much define thrash metal and like it or not, Reign In Blood[/

i] is a CLASSIC metal album, one of the top metal albums ever made if not THE top

metal album ever made (with perhaps the exception of [i]Black Sabbath
and

Master Of Puppets
), and has influenced countless bands for years and years

longer than most metal bands even stay together. I mean not many bands stay

strong and vital for over 10 years, let alone 25.

As for the album, kickass. Review was spot-on, too. I do disagree a bit w/the

reviewer on Paul Bostaph's role in Slayer though... I'm pretty sure he was one of the

best drummers alive at one point and he held the record for fastest double-kick

ever at one point (probably been broken by now). He overplayed a lot but he was

damn good. 4/5This Message Edited On 08.11.06This Message Edited On 08.11.06

From the tracks I heard, this album sounded pretty crap.

I won't be investigating it any further.

Does anyone else think that Slayer really brought in some elements of hardcore into this album? It seems like there are some breakdowns here and there.

You fool you! Slayer has always had Hardcore elements. Remember? Sped up NWOBHM mixed with Harcore = Slayer? But yea, songs like 'Skeleton Christ' really do have a more 'Hardcore Music' feel to them.

And STFDood84, nice job. You can rate it though, you don't have to tell me its a 4/5...just rate it.

Chan and Bron: Everything about Jihad is awesome to me. I do prefer the 2nd verse (with the sweet Middle Eastern type fills) over the first however. But the end speech pwns all.

The speech at the end is kind of annoying.

The speech is pretty much the only good thing abou the song. I liked it at first, but it kind of destroyed itself quickly. Word.

While I like Reign In Blood, Seasons, and South of Heaven more, I still really like this album just because it's a nice trip back to their older days when they made the best thrash out there. It's clearly different though because of the frequent breakdowns and such, but that doesn't detract much.

And I can see what you mean about Lombardo. He lays down some solid drumming on this album, but I can't think of a single time when it's really truly jaw-dropping. I'll stick to Nicholas Barker for that.
