depressing? the song about zoloft is the only one i could see as potentially be interpreted as depressing but to me even that song seems light hearted as least, a mockery at most

Then you misunderstand what the album is going for

A big thing with Ween is that Gene suffers from a long term depression and anxiety, but that he tries to mask it with humor and whimsy and that this album lets his depression seep into the songs more than usual. A lot songs on here seem "off" for Ween in an uncomforable way for that reason. It's not just fun euphoric druggy stuff like their 90s stuff, but now it's that with an extra layer of "why do I feel like shit doing what I once loved." It's all about how he's getting sick and tired of masking himself like this and how he's sick of having to abuse drugs (which was hard to avoid while being in Ween)

When he quit Ween in 2010, he disclosed what he was going through in the 2000s portion of their career (and was pretty melodramatic about it actually lol, he released a song called "Gener's Gone") and yeah... it's interesting to note that 2007 La Cucaracha was an attempt to go back to the happier times, but ultimately didn't help him

He seems to be better now though since Ween got back together

That was their set list last night. The ween brothers had so much fun and they produced such an awesome environment for every song! They pretty much jammed out after every song. Buckingham green the mollusk and golden eel were all totally profound experiences for me. Gener just acts like a guru and still delivers his lines so well, and deaner always makes the funniest faces and has some serious guitar chops! Played a lot of older songs, but with a new professional approach, and everything was super loud but yet clear, like you could hear gene’s voice and deans guitar while still getting flourishes from all the other musicians (who were phenomenal, and played weens songs perfectly)

Personally my fav show I’ve ever been to, I’m a ween fan for life now boyos
