Everyone's opinions on Norma Jean's discography here are so disparate, it's hilarious.
"It's shit, X album is way better!"
"It's awesome, and way better than X album, which was shit!"
I think this has been one of the most remarkably consistent bands of the century, and even the albums of theirs I didn't enjoy at first have generally grown on me. So far, I like this, but like all their albums, I probably won't know quite how much I like it for a while.

I blame fedoras and normal jeans

Will probably check this, but I need to go backwards first for (likelier) wholesome results. Call it intuition or something idk. I didn’t like their last one.

I feel like Meridonial takes the least accessible cake.

nah meridional hits like a ton of bricks right from the opening track
I feel Anti-Mother is their least accessible but it's very rewarding once you start feeling it

Maybe I'll have to go back and listen to it again, I remember thinking the production was weird for NJ.

1st track on meridional alone certifies it as a banger
this is pretty good so far

Actually agreeing with Pika for a change here, Anti-Mother is one of my favorites. Top 4 at least

this is already growing off me but polar and all hail were the exact same way so not rlly a surprise lol. still think its better than those two but not rlly enough that ill come back to it that much
plus tbh i still havent fully been able to wash out the bad taste thats still lingering from corys bs years ago which already puts a ceiling on how much i connect to this band anyway, so if i am gonna go out of my way to jam em its gonna be smth like wrongdoers that long ago established itself as a foundational cornerstone in my taste

I’m beginning to think Deathrattle is the band’s most well-rounded album. It’s the ideal blend of everything NJ does well. Plus, the track sequencing is almost perfect. DSFM is probably Top 3 NJ for me at the moment, if not longer.

It flows extremely well, super enjoyable album, would've preferred a bit more melodies here and there, but I understand a more straightforward approach.
It's unreal how fucking good Cory is after all these years

A few tracks in and I'm fucking loving this
