Good riffview. The Destroyer Beholds was literally the first death metal song I ever heard back when I was 11 or so. Morti, Deliverance, Tourniquet, Circle of Dust/Brainchild and Vengeance Rising essentially got me into metal. So christian metal (mostly the older stuff) has always had a special place in my heart despite me being far from christian anymore.

Not gonna lie, the fact that a Christian death metal band existed in the early 90's brings a smile to my face.

Review reads like gospel! Nice! And man a split with Deicide back in their debut/Legion era would have been epic!

For more good ass Christ loving extreme metal check yourselves some Crimson Thorn and the Pale Horse demo! I think the death/thrash band Vengeance might have been Christian too and their demo is also some dopeness.

I know Vengeance Rising was but iirc that was thrash, didn't know there was just a Vengeance. In addition to combustion's recs Paramaecium, Horde, Believer, Tourniquet, and Antestor are ๐ŸคŒ

Vengeance is actually Vengeance Rising before they added the Rising to their name. They put out one demo that is thrash with a fairly strong death metal influence if I remember it right

โ€œthis review is like if KILL was reborn and found acceptance and inclusivity in his later life, while still retaining some of his signature style of yesteryear, lolโ€œ

HAHAHAHAHA! Love me some KILL! I wonder what happened to him?

This review kinda reminds me of his Tourniquet review.

Ah, good to know. I'm only familiar with Human Sacrifice when it comes to them

Incubus (now Opprobrium) released Serpents Temptation the same year Human Sacrifice came out, and it's definitely on the death thrash side and still one of the heaviest xtian metal albums out there. Def worth checking out

i know an older metal dude in the area ive partied with a few times, he actually got sent to a christian boot camp as a teen for being rowdy and they were only allowed non-secular music. so he'd order mortification cds, tourniquet, believer, that sort of thing.

Makes me wonder, why aren't there any ironic christian DM or BM bands? Would be hilarious.
