First half of Lowborn slaps. Second half bores me to tears, and no Dissenter isn't good.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but Two Graves absolutely takes its lunch money. Harbinger and Hearing Voices are ace too.

Armageddon is so disappointing. I LOVE the first 3 minutes of it so much. It takes so much time to properly develop and I love that spacey dark vibe it goes for. The first climax is everything it should be and then....it just stops and repeats the climax slightly louder a second time. I feel like there's a chunk of the track that's just missing. Still love it overall though.
And yeah We Are Destroyer is one of their best openers and that's saying a lot. It shits on Dissenter it's not even close.

Stranger Ways is one of my favorites. Just the way he sings "stronger men have answered" makes me feel things

Yeah Stranger Ways is really pretty. Like I said the first half of Lowborn is great. Still a disappointing last album for me. For me it goes
We Are Destroyer: 4.5/5. Perfect opener, if you don't like it you are wrong. That chorus is legendary.
Armageddon: 4/5. Like mentioned in an earlier comment, incredible build up and vibe but it loses steam a little bit at the end. Feels massive.
Stranger Ways: 3.75/5. A bit too long and monotone but that arrangement is so pretty.
Velvet Covered Brick: 3.25/5. It's cool that they still have some of the pop-punk thing left in them even if it's mild. I like the verses but these choruses do not pay them off whatsoever. Sounds more like a pre-chorus. Overall lacks a bit of energy. I know a lot of people like that song but it doesn't click with me.
Atonement: 4/5. What a wonderful arrangement. Again like Stranger Ways I wish it would build a bit more towards the end but I can't be mad. And then the 2nd half of the album starts...
Birds of Prey: 2.5/5. It's a perfectly well crafted song but it bores me to tears, nothing stands out.
Dissenter: 2/5. That opening gave me so much hope when I heard to it the first time, only for the whole song to be Stephen annoying the fuck out of me with his cringey delivery and lyrics. Song has one of the worst choruses I have ever heard.
Losing it All: 3.5/5. Another strong showing on the soft songs side of things. All the vocal lines hit and the little added pace helps make it stand out. Solo kinda sucks though. And I am just ready to stop hearing ballads at that point.
Hearing Voices: 4/5. A great mix of everything found on the album. Strong chorus, creative production choices, passionate vocal delivery, involved rhythm section. Was a great idea for a single.
Harbinger: 2.5/5. This is the song that left the sour taste in my mouth. Love the sound design in the first few seconds, but the cheap electronic drums ruins it right away. I understand what they were doing with this song, and it may be unfair, but it really really isn't the way I wanted Anberlin to go out. It's a cool vibe, but I so wanted it to be an big epic track that would rival .fin and Miserabile Visu in its scope.
I wanted references to older albums, huge build ups, aggressive tracks, actual pop-punk, creative song structures...Not all in the last track but throughout the album. I wanted to feel like it was Anberlin giving their all to their fans. Instead it feels like just another Anberlin record. My expectations were perhaps too high, but when you release Cities, I don't think it's unfair to ask for an album that feels large in scope as your last goodbye.

@bloc hahahahaha. Like I said it's more about the disappointment Harbinger makes me feel as the band's "last song" more than what it actually is on its own terms.
Though even in a vacuum it's nothing that special either.

It was the opposite for me. Liked it a hit when I first heard it but really clicked with it when this dropped.
