This is one of the records I'm looking forward to revisiting the most. I listened to it a few times and loved it! Hopefully my opinion is still very strong for this one.

This is really cool and everything, but I still haven't had any desire to revisit (after my initial stint / the hype surrounding its release had worn off).
idk, less replay value than Alphaville for me, as things stand

Yeah same. This album feels looser than the previous two, which isn’t a bad thing and honestly fits with this band’s vibe, but it kinda feels like they’re just fucking around here

these guys touring with Zeal and Ardor makes a lot of sense actually, different sounds but similar fanbases

“different sounds but similar fanbases”
Do you mind elaborating on this? I don’t disagree I can see the overlap, I’m just curious for the reasons

'similar fanbases'
Nah

| |
Album Rating: 2.5
ok not ‘similar fanbases’ per se but they’re both ‘forward thinking’/experimental black metal, non traditional etc. so a fan of one of the bands would be more inclined/open to liking the other.
not throwing shade, but I can see how my comment can come off with my rating lol

It's my current AOTY Johnny... We are doomed to disagree hard til the end of time.
Hell, this is such a masterpiece actually...

This album is practicality begging me to revisit Alphaville instead (or Vile Luxury). The lifespan of this is currently shockingly short. Maybe I’ll conjure up some revitalised interest at some point down the line, but right now? Nope.

im glad im not the only one who thought alphaville was significantly better
ALPHAAAA VEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL

Alphavilleb is well below this for me. Songwriting wise this is incredible, alphaville was a mess in some points

Nah, it was beautifully imperfect. This comes across as rather orderly in comparison, therefore the chaos it claims to represent, is rendered less impactful. Is it tight?…Yeah, actually you might be right there, for the style. Is it anywhere near as entertaining? Not a chance.
Alphaville was more ambitious, yet still had major hooks that rewarded prolonged inspection. This is actually (weirdly) almost quite ‘safe’ and relies on the tried and tested disso-death / black pummelling and aesthetic they previously conjured, without bringing much new to the table.
To quote your avatar, this is their ‘Synarchy’

Album Rating: 4.0
Haha, yeah I think it's on par with Synarchy quality wise. That comparison still is nonsense because it implies Alphaville Being in any way close to Paracletus, which it isn't , Alphaville is a pretty OK album but no masterpiece...

I think Alphaville was a mess songwriting wise. Where you see ambition I saw randomness and lack of cohesion in too many points. This feels like a cohesive piece of music from start to finish. Whenever I listen to this album I feel like I'm really taking a surrealist/vertigo inducing walk through the decadent state of the metropolitan landscape.
I think this is their magnum opus, followed by Vile Luxury. I'm really curious where they go next because these guys ain't done...
