So glad that this band is still getting love. I'm still waiting for their third album. If I actually start to gain some pull / influence, I'd love to do what I can to help bring them back. That's starting to be one of my biggest motivators for trying to succeed as a musician is just to help people who have inspired me for years but never got their due success.

Also, I think this album is definitely better than Tree of Tongues. I think that album has a couple lulls and is a little too heavily tied to a temporary situation. (A chaotic break-up) Kind of feel like that might have influenced the decision to leave behind this group.

Wow an EAPZ review, never thought I'd see the day
This album is wilder and has a bit more of a unique sound but I feel like they tightened up their songwriting quite a bit on Tree of Tongues for the better. Some of the best songs on here (Seeds, Ira Lore) have endings that kinda fizzle and go absolutely nowhere

It is a bit jankier for sure but also more memorable and unique

You're definitely convincing me to revisit this.
Although I really shouldn't need an excuse to listen to these dudes lol

I forgot the review for this went away. if they were still kicking today they would be huge. what they were doing was fantastic.
drummer (i think) released some soundcloud tunes that were pretty good and the guitarist jeff is in pneumatic transit

They definitely carved out a niche for themselves. Never blew up, but earned a fair bit of respect in the underground.
Check their AudioTree performance, the energy is fantastic.

There were parts of this where it felt like A Lot Like Birds must've been a huge fan of these guys, lots of similar sounding passages

I have a hankering to relisten to this now too, and I never want to listen to metal anymore

I jammed both albums all day yesterday and it was so fun. I'd love for them to get pressed on vinyl but I got the cds in the meantime. Still need to hunt down a dl for that audiotree session.

I feel like this album did the more ambient elements of their sound better. The follow up had those instrumental interludes that kinda dragged in my opinion. Tree of tongues probably has better songwriting overall and it's also great but it's missing something that makes this one unique. The heavier moments on this one lean more mathcore too vs a slightly more metalcore approach on tree of tongues.

^that's kinda why I like this more. It's not afraid to leave things a little drawn out for a better payoff. Experiments with sounds a little more often. I think people that like a more straightforward experience would like ToT more tho. That one also needs a review and I'm super tempted to try it.

Haven't heard this but I have heard the first song on their next album and it rips

Yeah, that song is how you open an album.

And this is better eh? Only thing I'll say about the other song is that while it's great, the lyrics are kind of your typical run of the mil post hardcore stuff
