>i mean have you listened to Blut Aus Nord before?
i mean, have you listened to Memoria Vetusta before? Those are some top class black metal albums.
This is an amalgam with black metal elements. I think this album has the quietest guitars in the mix of all their albums. Hallucinogen was balanced around black metal, here black metal seems more like a residue from the past.
that's probably why it's gonna garner some even broader appeal.

i've never thought about the plural form of abyss before, it looks weird

What album are you listening to?

Yeah the drums whilst fairly buried are a bit too polished, they had a more fitting tone on some past albums, but the guitar (and synth?) tone is perfect, any more lo fi or hi fi wouldn't have suited it
This is fantastic but it's got me dreaming about how immense it could've been if they'd made a few different decisions
But if my aunty had a dick and balls she would be my uncle

Love The Red Chord. Agreed

Also there’s something amusing about expecting an esoteric themed industrial ambient black metal album called disharmonium undreamable abysses to have a broad appeal

First paragraph has some serious Ligotti undertones. Really killer work

Supposedly Ligotti was an optimistic and genial fellow until he became afflicted with unconquerable haemorrhoids

these guys have always used programmed drums as far as I can tell so I think a lot of the criticism of it sounding too “clean” or “artificial” comes from that.
I know at the very least their most well received albums are all programmed drums.

The audacity for them to play that chilled out beat over the third track with that hellish soundscape in the background is something else.
