They're really having none of it. I do agree though that the lyrics aren't good on this record.

In the vocal tone of a depressed Dracula, Maynard James Keenan croons about black holes, Jesus, and the sea swallowing California. The culmination is basically a Substack reference: “I unsubscribe / I unsubscribe.”

Honestly, watching some of their live performances for stuff from this record and it just boggles my mind how they can't translate that energy onto record. They clearly still have it from a performance perspective

i did kinda enjoy a lot of the most absurd parts of this (end of the empire i-iii fuck me up baby), and gang of youths had too much stale cornballing to be properly offensive
