It is Egarran! A sweet record!

Good stuff in a nicely cozy thread.

"So far Grounded and We Rise are the ones that have the potential to become all time favs."

Pretty much my picks too yeh. And there's quite a bit of Anathema here too, agree Doof.

I'd probs put both those towards the bottom end of this, although their codas are big fab. No real weak links here though - but also nothing I see cracking my TG top 20 in a hurry

Black is Magnified is quickly becoming an absolute stunner for me. I'm joining the 4 band. Had to temper my initial expectation and hype because it only did this a disservice.

No Johnny got a promo copy. It worked, we're on page five already!

Weirdly enough I got two copies of the LP and the EP yesterday... Strange!

Yuh see comment #1 lol

This is cute! Need to spend more time with the EP tbh, but I get why it didn't fit the album vibe

Yeah for sure. Loooove Stronger especially but it wouldn't fit here, super glad they released it anyway. The other new track is good too and the Planet? t/t live is amazing. Faster than the original, only the first third obviously, and no vox which is interesting.

Well it's definately a contender for AOTY to me.

Not sure how high I will place it on my TG ranking though. Still feel there's a lot to discover here, even though I've been listening to this non-stop.

This was nice. The Gathering are one of the most reliably good bands out there. This one wasn't quite on par with Disclosure for me and felt, for lack of a better word, a little watered down (?) (not in terms of content, just aesthetically I guess as a shift towards accessibility). That said it's a pretty LP.

Silje's voice is lovely, and those Anathema comparisons make me very eager to check this out.

The arrangements are sparser yh, would probably call this (marginally) less accessible than Disclosure if anything; much less dynamic and based around lovely drifty autumnal mopes. V much a grower

Yeah you're probably right -- not sure what I mean but maybe accessibility isn't the right adjective (yeah, "sparse" is it). Either way I just love the singer's voice, so any Gathering release will be worthwhile even if individual mileage may vary.

A really good comeback album but tbh I think it is the weakest of the three with Silje.
