I actually agree with Colton that the human angle makes the song more powerful, but it’s written in such a way to allow for that interpretation, as well as the real story about his pet.
Just think about the fact that Colton and most other people (including me) assume on an initial listen that the song is about losing a person you care about deeply, I don’t think that’s an accident.

oh for sure, i think that's my favorite kind of writing. there's a song i don't remember now, but it's about a toxic love, and it's never quite clear whether it's about a person or substance abuse. Emotion goes first, then context.

tbh the lizard perspective is still pretty sad. Reminds me of my lost pup

> you appreciate lyrical ambiguity yet condemn me when that ambiguity results in a stronger personal connection to the lyrics than the actual literal meaning of the artist does

I think this record is more polished and detailed than any of their previous ones. Every spin confirms for me the idea that this is (supposed to be) finer. heck, this is a great one. sad about the lofi sound

i think they cross the line between intentional lo-fi, scruffy, "indie" sound to straight cheap crap sound way too often here for me to pass it over.

Waiting is stupid good

Looks like I might’ve been too harsh on these guys in the past.
Album is a complete mess but in the best way possible. I’ll check their earlier stuff out soon.
Also, anybody complaining about the sound quality hasn’t heard actual low fi punk. This sounds fine.

Kinda getting used to the ugly production so this may grow to a 4 in time.

Totally Fine, Robot Writes a Love Song, Matilda, Waiting, and Bankruptcy are all certified bangers, and Four Chords is the perfect opener. This is the easiest album to like that I've heard this year and I haven't even fully familiarized myself with every track yet.

Four Chords, Totally Fine, Robot Love Song, Matilda, Waiting and PUPTHEBAND are all certified bangers
Need more time to make a decision on how I feel about Relentless, Habits, Cutting Off the Corners and Grim Reaping
... Four Chords 2 and 3 should have been expanded upon a bit, but in their current state are just filler/skits. Was excited for them too after the opener!
EDIT: Upon reading Sowings above comment ... I apologize for literally giving the exact same opinion, looks like a consensus is forming!

Vocals need to be more forward in the mix, drums sound kinda eh, rest of the mix is fine imo and works.

Some of the guitar solos are incomprehensible, the guitars are too fuzzy and muddy to appreciate the playing. Just compare it to the guitar production on tdio or ms, it's nowhere near as good
